Gary Kilminster
The Professional Woodie Chef
Trained at the Bournemouth & Poole College, Gary has a wealth of experience as a chef, including spells working at The De Vere Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth: The House of Commons, London: The De Vere Belfry, West Midlands: Whittlebury Hall, Management Training Centre Hotel & Spa, Northampton: Suvretta House Hotel, St Mortiz Switzerland, Careys Manor Hotel in the New Forest and as a personal chef aboard a luxury charter yacht in the Mediterranean.
Since 1997 Gary has competed in 44 competitions here and abroad, winning 31 medals & trophies including The William Heptinstall Scholarship 2002, First in Class & Best of the day Food Hygiene Live Theatre Hotelympia 2002, The Midlands Association of Chefs Young Chef of the Year 2003 and the 2005 Dorset & Hampshire Chef of the Year.
In 2009 Gary led a team of 5 students to a 19 medal haul at the Istanbul Gastronomy Festival and gained 3rd place in the International Grand prix
Following serious injuries in a road accident, Gary was forced to quit the kitchen and is now employed at the Bournemouth & Poole College as an Apprenticeships Co-ordinator and is a trained teacher.
Gary regularly gives up his own time to judge competitions at national Salon Culinaire’s and has decided to partner with us to create some wonderful woodie recipes.
